Dental Implants

Do you have missing teeth? Dental implants are one of the best ways to restore your smile. Today’s Oshawa dental implant designs are the only restoration that’s modelled after anatomical teeth. Their predictability, integrity, and minimally-invasive nature make them the gold standard for modern tooth replacement.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are biocompatible restorations that act as artificial tooth roots. If you have a tooth that is missing or was recently extracted, the implant is installed at that location and permanently integrates with the surrounding bone structure. At that point, you can attach a restoration on top of the implant to act as the visible tooth portion you’re used to seeing when you smile. No one should ever know the difference.

Implants are the only tooth replacement that is both permanent and non-invasive to the teeth on either. They are one of the closest thing to having a natural tooth all over again.

Dental Implant Advantages

•    Stronger than natural teeth
•    Support healthy bone levels
•    Non-invasive to adjacent teeth
•    Hypoallergenic
•    Capable of lasting a lifetime
•    Easy to clean and maintain
•    Extremely high success rate

Types of Dental Implant Restorations

Single Crowns — For single tooth replacement, we’ll place a porcelain crown directly on top of your dental implant. The overall restoration is closely modelled after a single anatomical tooth.

Multiple-Tooth Dental Bridges — A pair of implants can be used to anchor a 3-4 tooth porcelain bridge, eliminating the need to wear a removable partial denture. Implant bridges closely match the adjacent teeth to help your smile look whole again.

All-on-4 Implants — Do you need to replace all of your upper or lower teeth at one time? You don’t necessarily need an implant for each tooth that’s missing. As few as four strategically-placed implants can permanently anchor a full-arch prosthesis across your arch of teeth. These “All-on-4” restorations are more streamlined than traditional dentures but provide you with all of the benefits of dental implants.

Implant Stabilisation — Occasionally some people will prefer a removable denture that’s stabilised by dental implants. These ‘overdentures’ snap onto 2-4 implants for added security throughout the day. They’re also referred to as implant-retained dentures.

Am I a Candidate for Dental Implant Treatment?

Dr. Danis will need to evaluate your oral anatomy, bone density, and specific bite needs to determine if you’re a candidate for dental implant therapy. If you are, we’ll discuss the types of restorative options available and the estimated number of dental implants that you’ll need. As a restorative dentist, Dr. Danis will closely communicate with the oral surgeon who will be placing your dental implants, guiding you throughout the overall process to ensure it’s as streamlined as possible. As your partner in oral health, we’re committed to providing you with the same type of care that we would want for our own smiles.
